Pennsylvania's dairy industry has been struggling for several years.

Pennsylvania had more fatal car crashes in 2018 than the year prior, an increase of 9 percent that happened amid a nationwide drop, according to new National Safety Council statistics. Only New Hampshire and Washington, D.C., saw a more dramatic increase than Pa. Pennsylvania’s dairy industry has been struggling for several years.

  • Lawmakers have been lobbying the FDA to ban the word “milk” from non-dairy products made from almonds, soy, coconuts, etc., for years. Capitol Bureau Chief Katie Meyer has the details on the latest effort out of Harrisburg.

  • Berks County officials, meanwhile, want money from the state to try to entice a dairy processing plant to the area — one of two identified in a recent study as prime to strengthen the industry in the Commonwealth, the Reading Eagle reports.
