I went to an Eastern Lancaster County school board meeting on Monday night to see if board members would go through with implementing a new “biological sex” policy for bathrooms and locker rooms. The board approved the policy in April but delayed putting it into effect.
Multiple court cases have gone against such policies that limit the rights of transgender students. In one Allegheny County case, the district lost in court and agreed to pay $20,000 each to three former students, plus $75,000 for their legal fees.
On Monday night, more than 100 people showed up to the meeting in Eastern Lancaster County. The board voted to delay the policy until the fall semester.
