There was an election last Tuesday, and though there weren’t many big, statewide contests it was still a pretty active night.
One of the biggest things that happened? A lot of counties were using brand new, state-mandated voting machines, and in a couple places they caused problems.
York County had some of the most dramatic issues. On election night, the state GOP went as far as threatening legal action. Ultimately, the mishap was settled out of court. York County officials have since apologized and said they’ll speed up the process, but they maintain there were never any security issues.
There was also a statewide referendum on victim rights amendment Marsy’s Law that passed easily, but remains in legal limbo. Plus, Democrats made big gains in local elections in the southeast, and one school district tipped its hat in favor of arming teachers.
