Nine more counties in Pennsylvania are under a stay-at-home order aimed at curtailing the coronavirus outbreak.

Gov. Tom Wolf’s administration added Berks, Butler, Lackawanna, Lancaster, Luzerne, Pike, Wayne, Westmoreland and York counties to the list.

Overall, 19 counties are under the enhanced restrictions.

The Wolf administration says law enforcement will focus on ensuring that residents of those counties are aware of the order — and not enforcement.

The restrictions go into effect at 8 p.m. tonight and last until April 6. People are still allowed to leave home for several reasons, including buying groceries, to exercise as long as they follow social distancing guidelines, and for essential work at businesses considered life sustaining.

Earlier Friday, the state Health Department announced that a total of 2,218 Pennsylvanians have tested positive for the coronavirus, with infections reported in 50 of the state’s 67 counties. To date, 22 people in the state have died of complications related to COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus.
