#GivingTuesdayNow is coming up on May 5th

Two months ago, the team here at PA Post was preparing for a busy year. We were planning for our reporters to crisscross the state to cover the 2020 election. And we were about to hold our first big conference on open government and transparency. We were also working on plans to volunteer for service projects in our communities.

The coronavirus pandemic changed all that. We still have an election to cover, but travel plans are up in the air. Events and conferences are going virtual.

PA Post is revamping its plans to cover the wide-ranging fallout from the coronavirus. We hope that we are telling the story of Pennsylvania’s rapid recovery, and not a series of renewed lockdowns and government bailouts.

Our independent, nonprofit newsroom relies on support from our readers. Without you, we can’t fulfill our mission to provide unbiased reporting for and about Pennsylvania.

Tuesday, May 5th is a fundraising day called #GivingTuesdayNow. Nonprofits across the country will participate, and for the first time this one-day campaign will include news organizations – a recognition of the fact that the coronavirus pandemic has upended fundraising efforts for news organizations like ours.

We will be asking for a donation to fund our work. We are working with several generous donors to make sure some or a portion of your gift is matched.

Thank you for your past support and, we hope, your generosity again next Tuesday.
